Robert Horka Flowers as a Passion

Robert und Eva Horka, Hotel Elch in Nürnberg

When my wife and I aren't busy at the hotel, we like to spend time outdoors - doing yoga, spending time with the family, traveling or pottering in our garden. I like to share my passion and joy for flowers with our hotel guests. Every Wednesday I head down to Nuremberg's main market square to buy flowers from my favorite florist, who always has the freshest blooms of the season. I bring them to the hotel and make my own arrangements. I love to place them in every hotel room.

When someone asks why I run a hotel I always wink and say it's in my genes. My love and passion for this work runs in the family - after all, I am a hotelier in the fourth generation. What I love about my job is that there is always some new activity or challenge: I have to manage something new almost every day. We want our guests from all over the world to feel a home in our hotel. And what I love about Nuremberg are the many things to see and do and its excellent cuisine.

Favorite Spots MyTips

Café and Bieramt Wanderer

From Tiergärtnertorplatz you can head up to the Imperial Castle. The castle terrace offers a fantastic view over Nuremberg. Evenings, one can experience a one-of-a-kind atmosphere: The romantic light is reflected from the half-timbered buildings. Young and old meet and enjoy the evening while drinking one of the countless Franconian beers from the "Bieramt".

Café Schnepperschütz

The small rooms of Café Schnepperschütz are built directly on the sandstone wall above: Seating is only outdoors and the places go fast if the weather is good. The broad stone staircase next to the café also fills up fast. There you can relax and enjoy the view over the meadow.

Maxbrücke

The Maxbrücke Bridge is one of the last bridges over the Pegnitz river as it flows out of the city. The view of the "Hangman's Bridge", Kettensteg and the Imperial Castle is amazing. This is a favorite place to shoot photos: Whether as a reminder of Nuremberg, for weddings or simply to capture the city and its cityscape. The view is especially nice in summer just before the sun sets.

WELCOME TO THE HOTEL ELCH IN NUREMBERG
The small family-run hotel Elch is located in the idyllic castle district of Nuremberg between Weinmarkt and Neutor just a few steps from St. Sebald´s church. All rooms are equipped in historic urban style in order to suit the half-timbered building dating from the 14th century. The house was first mentioned as an inn in 1342. The historic character of the building combines with its longstanding tradition of hospitality and the friendly individuality of the Horka family. But modern technology is not missing. We offer all the necessary equipment from television to free WIFI and we will be very happy to be of assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.
