After a career-related intermezzo in Munich, I traded the English Garden for the Marienberg Park, the Isar for the Pegnitz and Munich's Weißwürste for Nuremberg Rostbratwürste.

For Fanny, my Labrador, always trailing behind us, it doesn't really matter, as long as we include her! Fanny is always at my side during my daily work and is - like my two-legged colleagues - part of our team from Monday to Friday. On weekends, she enjoys her days off just like anyone else. Whether dog, hamster or budgie, everyone is welcome in our hotel and Fanny is especially happy to see pets as guests. Together with one of the staff, most four-footed friends get to take a stroll and discover the neighborhood.

My part of town, Gostenhof (called GoHo by those who love her) - is just outside the Old Town: Centrally located, creative, colorful and in some places still chaotic, it's a place for everyone - especially with its vast range of places to shop! And our hotel is right in the middle of it all. At the Derag Livinghotel Nuremberg, the guests don't just stay overnight, they live with us, sometimes for months. We're their home away from home. With our insider tips we help them discover the city step by step.

Favorite Spots MyTips

ZeroHero

The boys from ZeroHero sell unpacked goods and merchandise in recyclable packaging. Both we and the environment like that. It's best to bring your own container and collect everything you need yourself. But even without your own container, a spontaneous stop is possible- they have environmentally friendly packaging on sale. Tip from Fanny: They have organic dog food in a glass and great smelling soap for my fur!

Kontumazgarten

An oasis of peace, yet close to the Old Town - I like to relax here on a picnic blanket with my favorite book and something good to drink. Since 2017, there's also a rainbow playground, a terrace on the river and a direct connection to the Old Town, just inviting you for a stroll. Tip from Fanny: Take a break on the Pegnitz with your chewing bone in your mouth and just enjoy the sun.

Dog Walks through Nuremberg

Whether it's on the banks of the Pegnitz River heading towards Fürth or in the moat around the Imperial Castle and city - in Nuremberg there's no shortage of romantic spots for a walk with your dog. Many places offer nice possibilities to sit and take a break, especially Rosenau Park. Tip from Fanny: Take a round from Brückenstraße right along the Pegnitz meadows to Hallerwiese, Kleinweidenmühle and on to the Kettensteg in the Old Town. The view from the Kettensteg is priceless and a great place for a photo - for Liese it's old hat.

Schankwirtschaft Schanzenbräu

There's nothing that better fits the motto "think global - eat and drink local" than the Schankwirtschaft Schanzenbräu Pub. It's a family-owned brewery and an interesting alternative to the Franconian places in the Old Town. In addition to their home-brewed beer, they serve Franconian specialties. And in summer you can enjoy the food and fresh air in their beer garden! Tip from Fanny: It's worth a visit for the pork shoulder bones!
