Jewish Fürth

In the 17th century, Fürth became the town with the largest Jewish community in Southern Germany. In the "Frankonian Jerusalem" was the religious center of the region with several synagogues, a Hebrew printing house and Talmud schools. The Old Jewish Cemetery, numerous foundations and the Jewish Museum of Franconia testify to this today.

Jewish Museum of Franconia

The museum is housed in a former home of a Jewish family. The highlights: an original mikveh (ritual bath) and a historic foliage hut in the middle of the museum. The new building which was opened in 2018 offers space for special exhibitions. The history and culture of the Jews in Fürth and Franconia is vividly discussed in the Jewish Museum.
