Eine der Lieblingsspeisen der Franken ist ein knuspriges Schäufele aus dem Ofen. Es ist besonders an Sonntagen zur Mittagszeit eine angenehme Abwechslung zum gewöhnlichen Sonntagsbraten.

In Monaten, die ein "R" im Namen haben, also von September bis April, gehören frisch gebackene Karpfen aus Weihern und Bächen zu den fränkischen Spezialitäten. Nicht nur zu den Nürnberger Bratwürsten, sondern auch als Krenfleisch oder als Verfeinerung anderer Gerichte ist der Fränkische Meerrettich allzeit beliebt.

Im Mai und Juni ist Spargelzeit. Besonders der fränkische Spargel ist deutschlandweit als Qualitätsprodukt bekannt und wird in der Region in verschiedensten Variationen serviert, sogar in Kombination mit den Nürnberger Bratwürsten. Zu beiden Gerichten passen die fränkischen Biere und Weine hervorragend und die herzliche, fränkische Gastlichkeit rundet die kulinarische Vielfalt ab.
