Sunday Night Orchestra

Sunday Night Orchestra “feat. the Best of German Jazz”: That could be the title of the concert series this Nuremberg band gives in the café of the Tafelhalle. The jazz formation around Jürgen Neudert presents big band sound from jazz to swing, but always with a little something unexpected. Guest performers are a regular feature, because one of the attractions of the evenings is their changing styles, themes and arrangements.

For a jazz musician, being part of a pack is something normal. Jazz lives from exchange and a jazz man rarely plays in only one formation. Right now, Germany has a lot of exciting musicians – most of them living out of a suitcase. They work with greats like Klaus Doldinger, Peter Herbolzheimer, Till Brönner or Nils Landgren, go on tour with big bands or musical productions and play with well-known solo artists for studio recordings.

The Nuremberg Sunday Night Orchestra is a fixed point on the horizon for these jazz music stars. Every last Sunday in the month, they play in the café of the Tafelhalle, now for more than 10 years. “To get straight to the point: The Sunday Night Orchestra is a one-of-a-kind institution in the German jazz scene!”, says the band on its homepage. And they’re right!
