As is fitting for the city of the Meistersinger, the concert landscape in Nuremberg is as lively as ever. The two large orchestras, the Nuremberg Philharmonic State Orchestra and the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, dominate the musical calendar. Philharmonic concerts with famous guest soloists, intimate chamber music, crossovers between classical and jazz, Klassik Open Air, Musica Sacra, lunchtime concerts – if you want, you can start your day in Nuremberg with a classical matinee and finish it off with an evening of jazz.

From the symphony concert to silent film music

Nuremberg is in the lucky position of being home to two orchestras of international repute. In the Meistersingerhalle (in German) and in the Serenadenhof, the Nuremberg Philharmonic State Orchestra and the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra present their own series of concerts with renowned guest soloists, and during the Klassik Open Air.

The main residence of Nuremberg’s Philharmonic State Orchestra, which is not to be confused with Nuremberg’s Symphony orchestra, is the State Opera House in Nuremberg.
