The listed building from 1858/60 lies in an idyllic location on the 19th century Ludwig Canal in Nuremberg-Worzeldorf. The graceful sandstone house was made into a restaurant and small hotel in 1990.

In 1999, Maria and Erhard Kunkel, the parents of Sebastian Kunkel, moved to Franconia and bought the Restaurant-Hotel Zirbelstube in Nuremberg-Worzeldorf. The couple brought a wealth of gastronomic experience from several successful restaurants with them. With much passion, love and devotion, the pair managed the restaurant and small hotel. Erhard Kunkel was responsible for the kitchen and Maria Kunkel served the guests in the restaurant and hotel.

Susanne Wagner and Sebastian Kunke joined the family business in 2010. In 2011, a series of renovations were carried out.

The restaurant features regional cuisine refined with international influences. Only fresh seasonal products of the highest quality are used. In the Zirbelstube, guests can enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere: Whether with friends, business associates, family or at a romantic dinner for two. The restaurant, a cozy cellar and, when the weather is fine, a lovely garden terrace invite guests to relax and enjoy. For its good kitchen, the Zirbelstube has been awarded one black hood by Gault-Millau.
