The well-known product highlights and classics are still produced today with great passion according to traditional recipes using the highest quality ingredients. In addition, the Franconian bakery experts are constantly creating new taste experiences for other seasons.
It all began in 1926: Emil Otto Schmidt had the idea of a lifetime. The Nuremberg businessman divided a wagonload of gingerbread into individual assortments and advertised them in newspapers. The highlight: Schmidt sends the parcels directly to people's homes. This is so well received that he takes over a small bakery himself the following year - the birth of Lebkuchen-Schmidt. Since then, this name has been synonymous with exceptional moments of indulgence and shining eyes for young and old alike. For many generations, it was and is something very special to hold one of the unmistakable parcels in their hands and look forward to the contents as soon as they are unwrapped. Creating this feeling again and again is what drives the employees, who have always seen themselves as one big family.
However, the name Schmidt also stands for a special corporate culture, which to this day has always acted wholeheartedly and with great respect for people and resources: The main shareholder is a charitable foundation, which is why the Schmidt Group is committed to numerous social, societal and cultural projects in its home region. By shipping its products globally, Schmidt also sees itself as an ambassador for Nuremberg all over the world. The careful treatment of nature and its raw materials as well as fair cooperation with our trading partners are part of our self-image.
