Märzfeld station was designed as a central arrival and departure station for participants of the Nazi Party Rallies - it was intended to provide access to the tent and barrack camps of the Nazi organisations. Only a fraction of the facility was actually built; work was halted at the beginning of the war, but the building that had been constructed by then was given new functions in the inhumane actions of the National Socialists.

Key facts:

  • Central arrival and departure station for participants of the Nazi Party Rallies
  • Station for deportation to the extermination camps of Eastern Europe
  • Renamed Nuremberg-Langwasser railway station in 1957
