With the start of the new season, the Tourist Information Office in Nuremberg's Handwerkerhof is sending a strong signal for regional enjoyment: on April 23, 2025, the new gourmet corner was opened under the title “The Diversity of Flavors in the Region – Regional Delis.” An innovative concept that emerged from the “Dining Affairs” campaign will enrich the local offering in the future. This is the Nuremberg Convention and Tourist Office's (CTZ) response to guest demand. Current market and guest surveys clearly show that visitors to Nuremberg value authentic experiences, and this includes regional cuisine in particular. The new gourmet corner picks up on this and makes it possible to take a piece of culinary Nuremberg home with you – whether as a gift, a personal souvenir, or a special gift idea.
The gourmet corner is the first trial of a new concept that combines information and inspiration with culinary delights. In addition to the usual services and information about the city, guests also receive culinary recommendations and can discover and taste products that represent the diversity of Franconia. Yvonne Coulin, managing director of CTZ, emphasizes: "The tourist information center in the Handwerkerhof has proven itself as a central point of contact for our guests. The new gourmet corner will make it even more attractive: it brings our visitors closer to the culinary treasures of the region. Anyone who visits Nuremberg wants to experience the taste of the region – and take it home with them. We make the diversity of flavors tangible on site and create a lasting memory. In doing so, we are directly building on the success of the ‘Dining Affairs’ campaign, which has put fine dining in Nuremberg in the spotlight."
The new range includes Papa Mame's hand-brewed soy sauce, Grischberli potato chips, products made from Franconian haskap berries from the Decker organic farm, gin from the Gelbes Haus, and Franconian whiskey from the Altstadthof microbrewery.
Recommendation from top chefs as a source of inspiration
The idea for the gourmet corner came about thanks to suggestions from top chefs who were involved in the “Dining Affairs” campaign. Their expertise, enthusiasm for regional products, and high standards of quality contributed significantly to the selection of products. Many of the items available in the gourmet corner can also be found in local restaurants, such as Fränk'ness and Imperial by Alexander Herrmann & Michi Seitz.
"Middle Franconia, and Nuremberg in particular, are a real gem when it comes to the finest food and culinary delights. We showcase this not only in Nuremberg's restaurants, but also in our Future Lab ANIMA and our gourmet restaurant AURA in Wirsberg, thanks to our food scout Joshi Osswald and our collaboration with more than 80 regional producers. We are delighted that we can now make the culinary expertise of our region accessible to guests visiting Nuremberg. We are convinced that they will find unique products of the highest quality at the Handwerkerhof and are proud that they are now bringing these products to the world," says Alexander Herrmann. Together with other gourmet colleagues, he represents the culinary expertise that makes Nuremberg a destination for culinary enjoyment.
