May 5, 2025: Music festivals in Nuremberg – Sounds like!

The Nuremberg Convention and Tourism Center (CTZ) is launching the campaign “Music Festivals Nuremberg – Sounds like!”, which focuses on Nuremberg's diverse music festival scene. The aim is to position the city as an attractive destination for music lovers and to highlight the emotional experiences created by the interplay of sound, atmosphere, and special venues.

Representing Nuremberg's musical and cultural diversity, the following festivals are at the heart of the campaign: St. Katharina Open Air, Musikfest ION, Klassik Open Air, Bardentreffen, Nürnberg Pop, and NUEJAZZ Festival. Each of these festivals creates an intense listening experience with its unique atmosphere and musical focus – in Gothic ruins, historic churches, public squares, or urban clubs. They all play a significant role in shaping the city's musical calendar and make it clear that music in Nuremberg is not only heard, but felt.

Marcus König, Mayor of Nuremberg, emphasizes the importance of the new marketing campaign: “Nuremberg is a celebration. Our festivals extend far beyond the city and the region and inspire locals and visitors alike. Now, with a powerful campaign, we are showing even more clearly that we are the festival metropolis. It's the mix that makes it special: Nuremberg has culture, Nuremberg has history, Nuremberg has cuisine. We look forward to welcoming many visitors who will enjoy our festivals.”

Yvonne Coulin, Managing Director of CTZ Nuremberg, adds: "With the campaign ‘Music Festivals Nuremberg – Sounds like!’, we are showcasing the emotional depth and cultural relevance of music in Nuremberg. Our festivals appeal to very different target groups – from classical music fans and jazz lovers to the young club scene. This diversity not only reflects the city's wide range of cultural offerings, but also makes Nuremberg particularly attractive for city travelers."

Nuremberg is known for its history, culinary specialties, and Christmas market. The city also has an impressive musical past: Nuremberg was home to the famous master singer Hans Sachs, the place where Johann Pachelbel worked, and an important center for early instrument making, music printing, and sheet music trading. A wide variety of musical styles developed in Nuremberg at an early stage, which is still reflected in various formats today. The music festivals in Nuremberg—whether large crowd-pullers or finely curated festivals for connoisseurs—carry this diversity out into the world. They make use of the city's architectural features, transforming historical locations into stages and thus creating a special connection between music, space, and audience.

Moritz Puschke, managing director of Musikfest ION, speaks on behalf of the festival organizers: "In 2021, I moved from Berlin, where I had been directing festivals for 15 years, to Nuremberg—and was immediately impressed: The artistic quality, stylistic diversity, and innovative concert formats that the music festivals here bring to the stage are unique in Germany and have a great, supra-regional appeal. It quickly became clear to me that Nuremberg is a real festival metropolis! That's why I'm particularly pleased that we festival organizers can now jointly announce the launch of our new campaign."

The campaign will be accompanied by digital and analog marketing measures, including a new landing page at tourismus.nuernberg.de, various social media formats, an image video, information for journalists in the Media Room, campaign merchandise for festival visitors, and promotions in international markets.
