I've known what it's like to be a host from the earliest days of my childhood. That's because I grew up in the apartment under the roof of the Arvena Messe Hotel, which was opened by my father Oskar Schlag in 1976. Because the trade fair center is just around the corner, it seems like we have grown up together.
When I need to get away, I like to go for a ride on my motorcycle to Franconian Switzerland. My restaurant and kitchen chef often comes along. I also like to play badminton.
One thing that is special about our hotel is the classic car that's always parked outside the door. We rent it out for things like stag parties or use it to drive hotel guests to their appointments. A personal highlight for me is the parade at the Langwasser Kirchweih, because I always drive our classic car and throw candies out the window.
