Christina Mackedanz A Love of Family

© Florian Trykowski

My family is my biggest treasure and I try to take good care of it. Fittingly, the idea of "treasure" is symbolically tied to my daily workplace, the Adina Apartment Hotel. Because this building used to belong to the Commerzbank, we still have a fully functional safe. While in the past important documents and valuable object were stored here, for me it is a reminder that while on my search for treasures in Nuremberg, I've received happiness - both professionally and privately.

Born in Forchheim, I started working for the Adina Apartment Hotel in Hamburg in 2010. But because Nuremberg is where my heart is, I moved back home in 2016 to become general manager of the Adina here. I am surrounded by family and friends and I am happy to spend time with them. We like to enjoy a delicious Aperol Spritz on the roof terrace of the hotel with its view of Nuremberg's Imperial Castle and St. Lorenz. We also love to head down to the mountains to go skiing together.

Favorite Spots MyTips

delikatEssen

Hidden within Nuremberg's historical city walls are many treasures: Cozy cafés, restaurants and traditional shops. The walk through the Weißgerbergässchen to delikatEssen is a delight and the shopping experience - with a chat with the shop owner, who knows all of his products - is really something special.

The lovingly furnished shop offers not only a good collection of spices, but also a vinegar and oil bar where you can sample the products. delikatEssen also regularly offers themed seminars and action days.

Jogging on the Banks of the Pegnitz

To give me balance to my work at the hotel, I like to put on my running shoes and head out. My favorite route is from Hallertor along the Pegnitz towards Fürth. On the way back, I like to have a cool drink at Schnepperschütz. When the weather is good, the small café at Hallertor serves Franconian Riesling and local beer and puts you in the best mood. The small rooms of the Café Schnepperschütz are built directly on the old sandstone wall. The large meadow around the café is a wonderful place to have a picnic - just bring a blanket along. Our Adina kitchen crew will happily fill up your picnic basket!

Annafest

The Forchheim Annafest takes place each summer around St. Anne's Saint's Day, July 26. The festival usually lasts 11 days and takes place in the shady oak forest at the Kellerberg in Forchheim, where there are more than 20 beer cellars. Plenty of rides, 15 different Franconian breweries and international specialties guarantee a good time. After my 11 years spent in Hamburg, it's great to go to the Annafest and meet old friends from school, sports and home.
