The rote Bühne: It’s feather boas and flapper dresses, tap dancing and chansons, red light and humor, paired with a bit of eroticism. The well-known dancer and entertainer Julia Kempken has fulfilled one of her dreams by opening her own cabaret in Nuremberg. Together with guest performers, she enchants her fans with a program of burlesque shows, comedy, cabaret, music and improv-theater.
Superwoman in tap shoes
As you might expect from a superwoman like Julia Kempken, she’s led a turbulent and busy life. The mother of four children earned money for her tap dance lessons as a street performer, took additional acting and singing lessons, opened her own dance school, won the German championship in tap dance and has now reached a peak with her own cabaret.
The cozy theater in southeast Nuremberg has space for 120 spectators. But in contrast to other venues, many of the guests of the rote Bühne stay long after the show is over. The good mood that Julia Kempken and her troupe bring to the audience often carries the after-show party far into the night.
